Braves go 1-2 against USC Aiken Pacers By Brian BeckAssistant Sports Editor Braves baseball beat the visiting USC Aiken Pacers 3-2 at Sammy Cox field on March 11. First Runs
The Braves then came up to bat in their half of the inning and manufactured a run of their own. After Josh Bentley’s double down the left field line and Derek Funk’s sac bunt, Kevin Dietrich would tally the RBI on a ground out to the shortstop. Deadlock Inning 12 In the 12th inning, the Braves then came to the plate and Jeff Adams struck out swinging. Morris made his way to second on a wild pitch and to third after a ground out from Jay Bowman. He placed the ball in right field, knocking Morris in for the game-winning RBI. Winning/Losing Pitchers The Braves lost the March 10 double-header to the Pacers. Since Feb. 22 At home, The Braves were swept by Georgia College, losing 8-0, 2-1 and 13-3 on Feb. 24 and 25. First, a 3-1 victory at home over Barton, a 10-2 win at St. Andrews on March 1 and a win in game one of a three game series at Lander. The Braves lost the last two games of the Lander series, 20-3 and 3-1 on March 3 and 4. Finally, the Braves traveled to Barton on March 7 and won 15-8, then to Claflin and won 12-0 on March 8. |
