Baseball sweeps Bloomfield By Brandon Barber Braves baseball pulled off a three-game sweep on Homecoming weekend, defeating the Bloomfield College Deacons twice on Feb. 4 and once on Feb. 5. The Braves outscored the Deacons 44-14 in the three-game series, putting up double-digit runs in each game. The Braves had some help from Bloomfield in the the series finale, as the Deacons made many miscues en route to being swept. Bloomfield made five errors, put five Braves on base via hit-by-pitch and balked twice. First baseman Jeff Adams had a game-high four hits, including the game’s only homerun, and drove in two runs. Mike Saluzzi picked up the win for the Braves, pitching 3 2/3 innings. Saluzzi struck out three while giving up four runs. John Anderson took the loss for Bloomfield, allowing six earned runs in four innings. Kevin Lauranzon led the Deacons with three hits and two RBI. |
