The Student Publications Board selected the 2010-2011 student publications Editors for The Pine Needle and the Indianhead yearbook on April 16.
Senior journalism major Kayloni Wyatt was selected as next year’s Editor-in-Chief for The Pine Needle, and sophomore journalism major Chantel Moore was selected as the editor for the Indianhead yearbook. Wyatt will be moving up from her current position of managing editor of the newspaper.
Wyatt has worked on the paper since her freshman year.
“Kayloni has been with the newspaper for a number of years in several positions, most recently as managing editor. She was key in meeting the deadlines and improving the quality of reporting,” said faculty adviser to The Pine Needle Dr. Judy Curtis. “I have the upmost confidence she’ll put together a strong staff and do an amazing job as editor.”
“I am very delighted and eager to begin working as editor of The Pine Needle,” Wyatt said. “I hope to incorporate all that I’ve learned in to making the paper achieve new heights.”
As editor, Wyatt wants to accomplish several things, including gaining more staff members, have quality content aimed towards students and better organization within the newspaper and staff.
Moore has been working on the Indianhead yearbook since her freshman year. She was the academics editor for the yearbook her freshman year and was people’s section editor this year.
“It’s an honor and a really great achievement to be named editor of the yearbook,” Moore said.
Moore is excited about working on the yearbook next year and is really looking forward to working with the staff to make a great yearbook.
“I have a lot of visions, goals and planning that will be involved in making the yearbook great,” Moore said.
“I look forward to working with Mrs. Oswald since she’s had a lot of experience with working with the yearbook,” she added.
Indianhead yearbook faculty adviser Sara Oswald is looking forward to working with Moore and believes she will do very well.
“She is very dedicated and has had previous experience working on yearbooks both here and in high school,” Oswald said.
Oswald believes Moore will help achieve some goals for the yearbook next year.
“Our goals are to maintain the standards of excellence set by Tiffany Schmidt [2010 Indianhead editor] this year and continue to try and make the yearbook more visible on campus,” Oswald said.
The editor for the Aurochs literary magazine will be selected by the Student Publications Board April 30.
