Trustees appoint search committee

When the UNCP Board of Trustees met on Sept. 10, they voted unanimously to appoint 15 people to compose the chancellor search committee.

Committee named
Members include: Sherry Edwards, Mary Ann Jacobs and Mario A. Paparozzi representing the faculty; Chairwoman Freda Porter, Breeden Blackwell, Robin G. Cummings, Raymond Pennington and Lorna Ricotta representing the board of trustees; Steve Martin representing the staff; Rigoberto (Arjay) Quizon representing the students; Mac Campbell, Grady Hunt and Carolyn Robinson representing the community; Olivia Oxendine representing the alumni; and Kellie Blue representing the foundation.

Water tower painting
Another item of business at the trustees meeting was a brief report from Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs R. Neil Hawk.

He said that a design had been made for the new campus water tower and that painting would begin soon.

The tower will be painted white with a gold band around the bulk of the top. There will be a black painted logo on each of the four sides of the tower. On two sides, the UNCP athletic logo will be painted and on the other two sides, the University seal will be painted.

Lengthy meeting
The trustees decided on the committee makeup toward the end of the meeting, which lasted nearly four hours.

In addition to Vice Chancellor Hawk’s report, presentations were made by Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management Jackie Clark, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Diane O. Jones, Athletic Director Dan Kenney, Vice Chancellor for Advancement Sandra Waterkotte and Vice Chancellor for University and Community Relations Dr. Glen Burnette, Jr.

Interim Chancellor Charles Jenkins also gave a report to the trustees, as did Provost Charles Harrington and Faculty Senate Chair Anthony R. Curtis.

The meeting was held in the meeting room on the second floor of the U.C., although originally scheduled to be held in the board room on the fourth floor in Lumbee Hall.
