University vehicles vandalizedBy Ashley Cole February 9, 2012
"We found a spot where someone cut the fence on the back side and went through several vehicles," Public Safety Supervisor Sgt. Ed Locklear said. According to Locklear, windows were broken and four gas cards were stolen from the vehicles. None of the gas cards has been used, yet. There are two individuals who said they wanted to give a statement, but Locklear is having trouble get ting them back to the police station. A third individual who is locked up for another incident is thought to havehad contact with one of the suspects, and Locklear is working with the man's probation officer to convince him to make a statement. There was no surveillance footage of the vandalism because the cameras were focused on the main gates and the gas pumps. "They've adjusted it a little bit now to watch over the vehicles," Locklear said. "We never thought about someone actually cutting [the fence] and going in because we've never had that happen before." Locklear estimates there was more than $900 in damages from all the windows that were broken. "We are working toward getting this case closed, and if anybody did see anything or heard anything, give us a call," Locklear said. "It'd be nice if we had another witness."
