Gamma Beta Phi held its first induction ceremony since 2005 on April 20 in the UC Annex.
The honor society inducted 69 students. Students have to be invited in, be in the top 20 percent of their class and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
The new executive members board are President Kristin Usrey, Vice President Angela Turner, Secretary Pia Jessup, Treasurer Brittany Hall, Historian Jennifer Cox and Public Relations officer Cassie Manis.
One of the goals of Gamma Beta Phi is to become more active on campus and in the community next year.
“Some of the goals for next year will be to gain solidarity within the group and bring current members back into the organization so they can help out with volunteering as well,” Usrey said.
“Since we just re-established the organization again and have completely new executive board members, it is going to take some planning to have our goals for next year,” she said.
“I am honored to be a part of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society,” Hall said.
“We are all from different backgrounds and majors, but we are all working hard together to bring the society back,” she said.
The organization went inactive because they did not have an adviser. Aubrey Swett has now taken the position.
“Since we are just starting the society back up we have some catching up to do,” Hall said
