Braves Card accounts updated

At the beginning of the semester, students were issued new Braves Cards that had been improved to incorporate a new ‘banner id’.
The ‘chip’ on the old cards, which acted as cash, had been replaced by a strip which operated from a single account.
Now, Business Services has made updates to the account and the number of services it allows access to.
According to Director of Business Services Denise Carroll, washers and dryers in residence halls now accept Braves Cards and also allow entrance into the residence halls themselves.
Carroll said as the University updates their vending contracts at the end of the semester, they hope to change out the machines to allow students to purchase items using their Braves Cards.
Carroll said that Business Services is currently looking at including the game room and copiers in the library in with the declining account balance.
She said she hopes that, eventually, there will be printing kiosks placed in various locations around campus.
This will utilize the use of the Braves Card and subtract the cost of the printing and paper from the student’s account.
Carroll said that this will be a “more comprehensive solution” than having to bring your own paper and will save the library technical problems in the long run.
Also, Carroll said that the University print shop in the Business
Services Building, which currently prints UNCP materials such as commencement brochures, will be updated with state of the art equipment by the end of the month.
“We’d like to be able to offer more advanced services to the students,” she said.
These services would give the students the option of creating banners and advanced presentations and would also be deductible from the student account.
“I don’t think we will ever be stagnant,” Carroll said.
