UNCP helps others By Marty Anderson
Forty families received Thanksgiving food boxes, each containing turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. Also, 20-25 canned goods were provided in the baskets. Staff Council Co-Chair Kay Oxendine, said she was very pleased with the work of the school and the community. “We all feel blessed to be part of such an incredible community - and we wish everyone has a safe and bountiful Thanksgiving,” Oxendine said. “The families that will receive these goods are all associated with this community, and we wanted everyone to be aware of this incredible project.” The holiday food drive was put together by dedicated University organizations such as the SGA, Greek Life, Multicultural Center and UNCP Staff Council with combined efforts from community organizations such as the Lumbee Tribe, Carolina Arts Network and the Healing Lodge. The coat drive, proving families with warm jackets for the holidays, is sponsored by the West, Pine, Belk and North Hall dormitories along with the Coalition of Negro Women. |
