Campus theft persists By Carol FranchEditor Theft continues to lead campus crime at UNCP. One student was arrested Oct. 30 for larceny at the bookstore. One report was filed on Nov. 1 for larceny in Wellons Hall. On Nov. 2, two reports were filed for a missing license plate from parking lot 14 and a missing book bag from the library. Other offenses Campus police seized toy guns from West Hall on Oct. 23. Toy guns are allowed, but not for use in a threatening manner. “First instinct when you see a gun tucked on someone’s hip, you think it’s real,” Cummings said. On Oct. 26, reports were filed for internet harassment in West Hall, damage to property in the Jones Athletic Complex, and a missing child was found in the auxiliary gym. Two arrests were made on Nov. 2 and 4 for possession of a controlled substance in Pine Hall. Two reports were filed for damage to personal property on Nov. 3 and 6. |
