SGA’s nightwalk finds safety issues

Student Government Association held a campus night walk Sept. 6 to identify poorly lit areas, test emergency blue light phones and address other safety issues brought about by recent construction around campus.
A few of the blue light emergency phones were discovered not properly working.
However, on average, among the phones that did work a campus police officer had answered the call for assistance within 45 seconds.
Lighting concerns in front of the University Center were raised. At the soccer complex and near some construction zones, lighting was found to be insufficient.
The SGA will notify University officials about its concerns and ask that they are addressed and corrected.
SGA typically sponsors several night walks throughout the year to address student safety. |
