Restraining order and marijuana charges occupy campus police

On March 29, the Department of Police and Public Safety was called to Pine Hall in response to a domestic disturbance.            

Three days prior, on March 26, the victim had broken up with her boyfriend, who proceeded to shove her the next time he saw her in the hall. 

This prompted the victim to take out a warrant and restraining order on her former boyfriend, according to Detective Ed Locklear of the Department of Police and Public Safety.            
           
The day of March 29, the boyfriend called her, violating the terms of the restraining order, according to Locklear.

The victim was ushered by the police to the magistrate’s office, and a warrant was taken out on the boyfriend, who was later arrested.            
           
His first court date was March 30.

Det. Sgt. Ed Locklear teaches a R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) class for women only, which counts as a physical education credit.            
           
Classes meet every Friday, and class sizes are usually five to 15 women, but all women are invited to join.

Possession of marijuana            
           
Detective Ed Locklear of the Department of Police and Public Safety said officers were called to Wellons and smelled marijuana in the air. 

The officers also noticed that the four students in the room exhibited signs of being under the influence of the drug, according to Locklear.            

The officers found a paper towel roll stuffed with dryer sheets, which is usually used in an attempt to mask the odor of marijuana, Locklear said.

All four students were charged with illegal use of a controlled substance.             
           
No court date has been set, according to Locklear.
