Phi Kappa Tau climbs for victory By T’asia BobbittGuest Writer The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Incorporated were back on the scaffold in front of the University Center.
The brothers were there to raise money for Climbing for Victory, a year-round camp for children with terminal illnesses. “The goal for us this year is $2,500,” said president John Bednar. In the first annual Climbing for Victory held last year, Phi Kappa Tau raised $2,200. This year, starting April 4 at 10 a.m. and ending April 6 at 10 a.m., the 18 active brothers had to be on the 6-foot scaffold with three members on at all times. Each group of three worked in four hour shifts. The only exception being overnight shifts which were six hours. Phi Kappa Tau was founded on the UNC Pembroke campus as the local fraternity Sigma Phi Sigma and chartered as Phi Kappa Tau on April 22, 1994. |
