Wal-Mart receives bomb threat By Adam Fenwick The Wal-Mart in Pembroke was closed for several hours Feb. 5 after receiving a bomb threat. The following morning a dispatcher with Pembroke Police Department confirmed the bomb threat. The night of the bomb threat doors were locked and a Wal-Mart representative was at each door not allowing anyone in except employees. Mark Epps, a Wal-Mart representative, could not comment on the situation and directed all questions to his supervisor Mike Miller or to the Wal-Mart home office in Bentonville, Ark. When contacted by The Pine Needle, Miller and the representatives at the Wal-Mart home office declined to comment on the situation, neither confirming nor denying the bomb threat. UNCP Campus Police Chief David Helton declined to comment when asked by The Pine Needle if the event would have any affect on the campus. The store reopened at 10 p.m. Feb. 5. |
