A suspect has been charged in connection with a common law robbery case that happened on Oct. 5.

Willie Black Jr., a former UNCP student, was charged with financial card fraud and possession of stolen property.

"We have the paper work on the desk," said Detective Ed Locklear of Campus Police. "The case is closed."

On Oct. 5, a woman was robbed on her way from class. A female ran from behind her, stole her purse and assaulted her. The incident was reported at 9:05 p.m. Her credit card was used at Best Fuels at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Locklear put posters up around campus hoping for an anonymous tip.

The tip finally came when a student went to Campus Police and told Locklear that he believed it to be his car in the picture. The student who believed it to be his vehicle was not involved with the crime itself.
