October 12 - October 26, 2004

Oct. 12

Damage to personal property - A student reported to Campus Police that her vehicle had been damaged while parked in Lot 21. The damage was done to the left rear passenger door.

Oct. 15

Attempted breaking and entering - A student reported that someone attempted to break into his apartment at Village Apartments. The student heard a noise coming from the front entrance door of the apartment. The subject never gained entry to the apartment.

Oct. 19

Identity theft - A student contacted Campus Police in reference to identity theft. The student stated that an unknown suspect obtained his check card information and spent $600-$800 over various Internet sites. The case is pending further investigation.

Hit and run - A student contacted Campus Police in reference to his vehicle being damaged while parked in Lot 8. The passenger side mirror is broken, wheel busted, and the right front quarter panel is scratched and dented.

Oct. 20

Underage consumption - While officers were at West Hall investigating a fire alarm activation, officers spoke with a student in reference to the incident. The student was charged on a campus level for underage consumption after having an Alco-sensor reading of 0.13.

Underage consumption - The fire alarm in West Hall was intentionally activated three times. Police received information as to who was responsible for activating the alarm. A student was questioned in regards to the incident. The student was charged on a campus level for underage consumption, furnishing false information and damage to property. The student’s Alco-sensor reading was 0.14.

Oct. 21

Controlled substance violation - A fire alarm was activated at West Hall. Officers responded to the area and noticed a knife lying on top of a student’s dresser. After receiving permission to search the student’s room, officers found drug paraphernalia. Officers charged three students on a campus level with controlled substance violation and one with a weapon on campus.

Underage consumption - Campus Police received information that someone was throwing plastic bags with water out the window from the sixth floor of Belk Hall. A male student was charged with underage consumption with an Alco-sensor reading of 0.15. The male and a female student were both charged on a campus level for throwing water bags from the sixth floor of Belk Hall.

Oct. 22

Larceny of check - A student reported that she never received a personal check. The $50 check had been cashed at the UNCP Bookstore by an unknown suspect.

Larceny of check - A student reported two checks in the amount of $50 each missing from his university mailbox. The checks should have been received on Oct. 1. One check is still missing and the other was cashed by the UNCP Bookstore.

Oct. 25

Damage to state property - During the weekend, two shots were fired at the Dogwood Office Building. One bullet went through a window pane, struck the blinds, and traveled until it hit a wall. The second bullet hit the window frame just above a window pane. Damages total $100.

Excessive noise - Campus Police received a call in reference to excessive noise on the third floor of West Hall. Officers warned the disruptive students in West Hall to close their door and keep the noise down. Officers returned to the room later for excessive noise. One student was charged on a campus level for excessive noise and failure to comply with a university official.

Threatening another student - A student reported to Campus Police that another student threatened her in the Education Technology Center Computer Lab. The second student was charged on a campus level for threatening another student.
