Childcare Internet Survey Shows Postitive Results

The Internet survey that was posted on the University website March 15-24 had positive results for a possible childcare center at UNCP.

There were 521 respondents to the survey on the Internet and 87 percent responded yes to a childcare center. The respondents consisted of 56 percent Undergraduate students and 20 percent faculty with a remaining of 14 percent staff and graduate students.

“I think there is a big need not only for students but for faculty also,” Jennifer Carter, Mass Communications Department secretary and parent said.

The survey was sponsored by the Child Care Committee, which is a subcommittee of Student Affairs and Campus Life.

“It would allow parents to bring children to campus and hopefully it will develop a yearning to follow their parent’s footsteps and go to college,” Scott Ammons, mass communications major and parent said.

Dr. Lisa Kelly, an associate professor in the Biology Department and chair of the Child Care Committee said she was pleased with the outcome of the results thus far.

Jeannie Davis, Applications Programmer II for Institutional Research is still calculating remaining paper survey.
