Changes expected for café in Fall 2005

The café is planning on providing several additional services in Fall 2005 to UNCP including a dietician’s services, a meal plan option for Village and Courtyard Apartment residents and commuter students and a pizza delivery service for Bert’s.
Commuter students including Village and Courtyard residents will have a 10-meal plan option available to them next fall. According to SGA’s food committee chair Tanika Gilmore, the café has been losing money because they have not provided this option to campus apartment residents in past years.
Next fall a dietician will come to the café once a semester to help students and faculty who have special dietary needs, according to the general manager of the café, Mike Nance.
The pizza delivery service next fall will be available to all residents of UNCP and apartments surrounding the campus with the exception of the Pembroke Pointe apartments.
Students will have their pizza delivered to them by golf cart with little or no extra cost; cash will be accepted as well as money on student ID’s. Students will provide their ID number, and sign the receipt that verifies they used the ID card for the order and that they have sufficient funds.
“Yes, it will have an impact for change…just another added service,” said Nance.
According to Nance, there is also a possibility that more channels will be accessible on the televisions in the café in the fall semester. Currently MTV University is the only channel available to the students in the café who want to watch television during their meals.
