Childcare survey could bring change

By Natalie Baker
Staff Writer

A formal survey will be distributed March 15-24 throughout the campus to determine the interest in a possible childcare center for UNCP.

The issue of a childcare center and the advantages and practicability has been a year in the making.

Dr. Lisa Kelly, an associate professor in the Biology Department, is chair of the Child Care Committee, which is a subcommittee of Student Affairs and Campus Life.

The survey will help determine whether there should be further investigation into the finances of a childcare center.

“Hopefully, this will be the fuel and ammunition we need,” said Kelly on the hopes of getting the investigation started.

Kelly said a childcare center would give students, faculty, staff and the administrators who have children “peace of mind.”

The survey will be available in paper form and online at the University website.

The first three days of the survey members of the SGA will be distributing and collecting completed surveys in the UC.
