It is that time of year again! UNC Pembroke’s Homecoming 2005 begins on Monday, Jan. 31 and goes to Saturday, Feb. 5.

Starting the week will be homecoming court elections from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The faculty and staff versus student basketball game has been scheduled for Feb. 1 in the Main Gym at 7 p.m. and is free to attend.

On Feb. 3 the Homecoming parade will go through campus and the town of Pembroke starting at 3:30 and will be followed by the pep rally in the main gym on campus.

Feb. 4 is Spirit Day. There will be free play in the game room from
10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Platters will be performing at GPAC from 8 to 10 p.m. later that day. Tickets are $18 to $20 for the public, $10 for children or students, and $15 alumni, faculty and staff.

Starting at 9 p.m. and going to 1 a.m. is the Homecoming semiformal dance in the auxiliary gym. The price for students is $3 and for guests it is $5.

Then on Saturday, Feb. 5, the UNC Pembroke men and women’s basketball teams are set to host the University of North Florida in UNC Pembroke’s Homecoming games. The women’s game will be first at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m. During halftime of the men’s game, Darrell Brown and Andrea Miyagi will step down as 2004 Homecoming King and Queen and turn over their crowns to the 2005 winners. To add more to this long awaited day, there is a step show at Porter Plaza at 5:30 p.m.

At 9 p.m. in the GPAC Gary Owen, the only Caucasian person to ever host BET’s Comic View, and Rickey Smiley, 2000's host of BET’s Comic View, will be performing. Tickets are priced at $5 for students, $10 for alumni and $15 for the general public.

With plenty of events planned for students, faculty, staff and alumni, this year is sure to be one of the best!
