The Student Government Association (SGA) has added
nine new voices to represent the student body.
Nine senators were elected from a pool of applicants
over the past two meetings of the SGA. The new senators include
Scott Ammons, Broch Clinton, Cara Glick, Lizuara Jones, Jessica
Kisseih, Daniel Locklear, Kathleen Long, Terry Self and Greg Selph.
One of the new senators, Selph, expressed his happiness
over receiving the position by saying that “I’m happy
to be part of this organization. I look forward to serving UNCP
to the best of my abilities.”
Alphonza Thomas, vice president of SGA, echoed the
sentiments of Selph. “I am very excited because at this point
- we have a full senate.”
The applicants had to complete an application and
present themselves before the senate, which meets each Wednesday
night. After each nominee made their presentation, the floor was
opened up to the senate to question the applicants. New senators
will be expected to be part of two committees within the SGA senate.
Thomas thinks SGA’s future looks bright.
“We have
the largest SGA senate we’ve ever had,” Thomas said.
“I feel confident that our very competent SGA will get everything
done that the students request.” |
