Students honored by Who’s Who

“The Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” has awarded 59 UNCP students national recognition in the 2003-2004 school year. This prestigious award is given to students based on their scholastic abilities and high involvement in extracurricular activities. The “Who’s Who Among Students” recipients have proven themselves as outstanding leaders by contributing to UNCP and the community.

This award marks a major achievement for those who are on this national list of elite students. For almost 70 years, outstanding students have been selected for recognition in this long-lasting biographical volume representing future leaders.

“Who’s Who Among Students” is one of the most highly regarded awards a student can receive in the nation. Every year, over 2,300 institutions for higher learning are involved in this award program that encompasses all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Junior computer science major Terry Autry, 22, was one of this year’s recipients.

“I think it’s an honor to be chosen because it really tells something about yourself,” Autry said. “It goes to show that if you work hard, it really pays off.”

Campus nominating committees choose students who are juniors, seniors and graduate students who perform with the utmost diversity and dedication in all areas of college life. Every college has its own quota that it must fulfill that is aimed to represent the institution as a whole, according to the website.

Those who receive “The Who’s Who Among Students” award will have a lifetime reference service for resume purposes, a certificate and the priceless achievement of being acknowledged nationally.

There will be a brunch held in April to honor UNCP’s recipients.
