The Sixth Annual Volunteer and Internship Fair was held on Oct.
1 in the U.C. lounge. The Career Services Center and the Leadership
and Service Program (LSOP) co-sponsored the event bringing in 28
agencies, businesses and schools from around the region offering
many internship and community service opportunities to students.
Freshman Megan
Grimsley said, “The fair is a wonderful opportunity for students
to find out which companies and organizations need volunteer work.”
Organizations
gave out pens, candy and other treats along with brochures providing
information of the volunteer work and internships available.
This is the
third year that Paula Archambault has participated in the fair offering
volunteer work at West Hoke Middle School in Raeford.
“Our children
love to see UNCP students visit the school,” said Archambault,
“and this fair gives us the wonderful opportunity to bring
in fresh faces.”
Director of
Leadership and Community Service Melanie Clark said, “The
fair is valuable for the students to interact and share opportunities
with the agencies and internships.
“It is
also valuable for the agencies,” Clark said, “to share
what UNCP has to offer the community.”
