Scholastic excellence tells who’s who among UNCP students

Forty-seven UNCP students were nominated to this year's Who's Who Among Students.

Who's Who Among Students is an honors program that began with the publication of "Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges" in 1966.

The idea for the program was conceived by Pettus Randall who wanted an honors program that didn't require dues or fees.

Students are selected to the Who's Who based on academic excellence (students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0), participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, citizenship and service to the university and potential for future advancement. Students must also be full-time students with junior, senior or graduate standing.

According to the Who’s Who website, the program is the nation’s oldest honors program.
