Bookstore hails school spirit

The UNCP bookstore took the opportunity to have a “First and Ten Sale” on all football merchandise from Sept. 19-23 to promote the tailgate party held on Sept. 22 in preparation for the return of UNCP’s football team. Students were able to purchase football jerseys, UNCP spirit flags, game day fleece blankets, as well as football t-shirts displaying: “UNC Pembroke Braves Football” on the front and “Still Undefeated” on the back. All items were 20 percent discount price.

“It’s been really successful,” Bookstore Director Karen Swiney said. If the traffic during the sale is a sign of the support the upcoming football team will receive, then the football team should have a lot of support, Swiney said.

During the “First and Ten Sale” the bookstore sold:

• 5 football jerseys
• 53 football tees
• 9 spirit flags

Swiney said the bookstore would have more football related merchandise next year. While the “First and Ten Sale” ended Sept. 23, students will still have the opportunity to buy football merchandise at their regular prices:

• football jerseys- $30.95
• football tees -$10.95
• fleece blankets-$34.95
• spirit flags-$36.95

The bookstore is open Monday to Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m.
