The prices this year are:
• $3.95 for breakfast
• $6.25 for lunch
• $6.95 for dinner.
Last year’s prices were:
• $3.69 for breakfast
• $4.65 for lunch
• $4.92 for dinner.
“The reason for the increase in price is caused by inflation, the cost of services for the people making the food and the overall cost of the food,” General Manager of the Dining Services Mike Nance said.
Some commuting students and visitors who eat at the cafeteria still don’t find the increase in price necessary.
“It’s ridiculous to pay that much, which is why commuters eat at Bert’s more, because it’s so much cheaper,” Sarah Edward, sophomore, said.
Meal plan. Nance and his staff encourage commuting students and frequent visitors to purchase the block meal plan, which will save students considerable money.
“Even with the increase in price, which is unavoidable, we encourage students who are commuters to purchase a block meal plan which come in increments of five,” Nance said.
“These block meal plans will save the student money in the long run and are more convenient than paying at the door,” he said.
A review of the cost of the block meal plan showed the average savings for someone purchasing the plan is an average of $1.85 for lunch and $2.55 for dinner per 10 meals.
“We would also like for the faculty to take part in this plan, as well as the students because we want you to save money,” Nance said. “We’re not here to take your money away, but to offer you quality food at a good price.”
