The newest addition
of living is now open. Pembroke Pointe buildings officially open-ed
July 15, a setback from the original date of June 1. The estimation
of building costs has now reached over $1 million.
The Pointe has
276 rooms available, 115 of which are currently occupied and is
still accepting lease applications. The lease would start during
the move in month and run until July 31, 2005.
“I enjoy
the privacy (at The Pointe) compared to the dorms…without
worrying about RAs and RDs all the time,” Senior Dwayne Coward
said.
The security
alarms are on, but aren’t monitored. For $19.95 a month, Secure
One will monitor individual units. When the alarm is set off,
the police are notified.
If a house phone is needed, that too has to come out of the tenant’s
pocket.
The staff of
four includes Community Manager Rita Jones, Maintenance Supervisor
Horace Ivey and Resident Advisors Jessica Polman and Ryan Kemper.
Office hours
are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If any issues do happen to arise after hours,
there is a 24-hour number to call. The police can also be contacted
in more serious matters.
