‘Book T.’ performs at fashion show

Senior mass communications student T.J. Jones, a.k.a. Book T, held the Insight Entertainment Fashion Showcase and Hurricane Relief Benefit on Nov. 15 in the University Center.

The Fashion Showcase featured about 20 male and female models from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, The University of North Carolina Greensboro and the Raleigh, N.C. area.

Students participating in the show showcased fashion T-shirts that featured designs from Book T's fashion line MPRESS as well as fashion T-Shirts from MOSAYK clothing line out of Raleigh.

The fashion showcase opened up with words and acknowledgements from TJ Jones and then a performance from SME (Show Me the Money Entertainment).

The group features University of North Carolina at Pembroke students Alex McLaughlin, Maquis Benitez and Teshaun Brown.

The group performed a medley of snippet songs from their upcoming album.

As the lights dimmed, Insight Entertainment Artist and MC Alphamale joked with the crowd and then began to introduce the models with their fashion.

Models pranced and walked their way down the neatly assembled "cat-walk" of blue carpet that was laid between chairs and the main floor of the U.C.

Sharhira McDowell modeled a decorative piece from MOSAYK clothing line designed in the colors of yellow, orange and red.

"I'm really into fashion myself, so I have no problem supporting T.J.'s efforts.

His clothing pieces are hot and since they are on T-Shirts that makes them easier to wear," McDowell said.

About 30 people from all surrounding areas made up the crowd.

Insight Entertainment rapper, Alphamale, who is also a native of Raleigh, N.C, hosted the event.

After the models strutted on the catwalk, a "church type" collection was taken up to be donated to the American Red Cross for the effort of hurricane Relief.

After the collection was taken, Book T graced the stage and performed a few songs for the crowd from his compilation C.D. title "The Best of Book T."
