The widely known mythical tale of “Beauty and the Beast”
is gracing UNCP’s stage on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. in GPAC.
The hour-long
show will share with the audience the classic tale of the power
of love and inner beauty.
The show will
use life-size puppets, shadow play, masks, stage illusions and original
music.
Director of
Marketing Elizabeth McLean believes “is going to be a great
way to kick off the school year.”
“Beauty
and the Beast” is being presented by the Enchantment Theatre
Company and booked through the Brad Simon Organization which Executive
Director of GPAC Patricia Fields reveals “we have used many
times.”
“Beauty
and the Beast” has been at GPAC before but not for many years.
With GPAC holding
the On Stage for Youth Series, the performing arts field trips are
educational and incorporate classroom learning with theatre for
students.
The events are
primarily attended by school groups but are open to the public and
are extremely well received according to McLean.
“We already
have a good number of the seats reserved by school groups
and we hope to fill even more seats as the event date approaches,”
McLean said.
“Beauty
and the Beast” tickets are $7 for students and $8 for adults.
