Skracht Apple performs on music show ‘Unleashed’

The band, Skracht Apple, performed live March 17 for the UNCP-based television show “Unleashed.”

Skracht Apple performed five original songs from their two albums, “So-So Mafioso” and “Made the Grade but Flunked the Test.”

Members of the band are drummer Rocky Covington, guitarist and UNCP student Roger Campbell, lead singer and rhythm guitarist “Duck” Meadlock, mandolin player Scott Johnson and bass guitarist Jeff Parrish.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers, 311 and R&B music are among the band’s musical influences, Johnson said.

“Two artists inspire me,” Johnson said. “Jimi Hendrix and Ozzy Osbourne.”

The band got their name from a little girl in their neighborhood who called the original group Skracht Apple.

Skracht Apple has had two line-up changes since Meadlock formed the band over 10 years ago.

“Duck has a jam room…we met through Duckie, I’ve known him for eight years,” Covington said.

“Each show just keeps getting better and better,” Gary Rogers, host of “Unleashed,” said. Rogers also said that Skracht Apple’s performance on “Unleashed” was the best show to date.

Like most bands, Skracht Apple has dreams of making it big but as of now is performing in places throughout the Sandhills and surrounding areas.

Skracht Apple performs live March 26 at 9 p.m. at The Brewery in Raleigh near the NC State University campus, opening for the local band DL Token.
