A popular local eatery is under new ownership, and the owner offers a wide variety of entertainment and food choices for her customers.
"I love meeting new people, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to make The New BlackWater Grille and Fine Dining a great restaurant," new owner Annette Branch Dent said.

"Karaoke at The New Black- Water Grille & Fine Dining is the best," Beverly Vereen, a UNCP senior said. "It's amazing to be on stage acting out your dream of being a professional singer. I frequent lots of karaoke bars, but find the atmosphere at the restaurant to be exhilarating."
Dent said that through working with Cindy Bidwell, an associate with Palmer Prevention in Lumberton, N.C., that they are able to offer a free taxi service for those who need a ride and have had too much to drink.
"Bidwell has done an exceptional job," Dent said. "We have talked on many occasions and we both feel the most important thing is safety for everyone. Life is precious and whatever we can do to prevent harm is worth it."
Customers can still enjoy the food and drinks the restaurant has been known for.
"Our menu includes steaks, crab cakes, ribs, chicken, pasta, sandwiches, soups, salads and much more," Dent said. "Our chefs are some of the best, and they love the presentation of food. Every employee I have makes the New BlackWater Grille and Fine Dining very special."
"I am fortunate to have a great staff to work with and a wonderful new boss," said Garrett Locklear, a UNCP senior and bartender at The New BlackWater Grille and Fine Dining.
"The restaurant is an amazing environment to work in. My customers mean the world to me and so does the restaurant itself." The New BlackWater Grille and Fine Dining is located in historic downtown Lumberton on 111 W. Third St.
"Customers will see The New BlackWater Grille and Fine Dining is special within itself," Dent said.
"The design, which includes exposed beams and a rustic nature, is so beautiful inside. We are also located near the Lumbee River which makes this place special not only to me but many others who lived in this community throughout our lives."
Dent said that customers can learn more about the restaurant through its Facebook page and she plans to have a website completed in the next couple of weeks.
