Students arrived in Pembroke this fall to many new additions including a new place to eat, Jersey Mike’s Subs.
The restaurant, located right beside Hardee’s, boasts subs, salads, wraps and soup.
Pembroke’s many fast-food restaurants include two different Subway locations, though Jersey Mike’s promises a new variety in sandwiches.
Restaurants like McDonalds and Burger King stay packed with customers during the day, making it difficult to get a quick lunch. The addition of another restaurant could help make it easier to find a bite to eat In a smaller amount of time.
With fresh sliced meat and various hot subs prepared on a diner-style grill, Jersey Mike’s gives the illusion of a local deli in the body of a chain restaurant. A glass cooler in the main counter even shows customers the many varieties of meat they can choose from.
Each sub is offered as a wrap or a salad, allowing customers to have a variety of selections from the otherwise small looking menu.
Only having been open for a few weeks, it is yet to be seen if Jersey Mike’s will keep constant business, though for now it seems to be packed around meal time everyday.
Though plagued by long lines and eager crowds, the restaurant has kept service efficient.
Jersey Mike’s has a menu filled with variety, allowing any sub to be served as a wrap or even in a bowl without any bread at all, keeping the more health conscience consumer in mind.
A welcome addition to the ever growing restaurant scene in Pembroke, Jersey Mike’s has its work cut out in the near future, with travelers arriving for UNCP’s football season and the ever growing student population, customer numbers will be large enough to test the restaurant.
One thing is for sure, students and residents alike will have one more option for a bite to eat in Pembroke now. |
