Theta Xi volunteers at annual Haunt Fest By David McGeeStaff Writer Theta Xi Fraternity will be volunteering their time in order to help raise money for the Robeson County Juvenile Restitution Program through an event called Haunt Fest.
Haunt Fest will include activities such as a country corn maze, a hayride, a craft show and pony rides. Some other events this year include an appearance by the Hooter Girls of Fayetteville, a car and bike show and costume competition. Theta Xi provides assistance in many aspects of the operations of Haunt Fest. In previous years they have worked on the hay ride, in the haunted house, running concessions and meeting and greeting guests. Theta Xi has been volunteering for Haunt Fest for many years, and it is something they say they enjoy. Matt Hilliard, a junior at UNCP and brother of Theta Xi, said, “I’ve done this every year and have a great time scaring people. It’s satisfying to know that it’s for a good cause.” Haunt Fest is being held at the Southeastern Agricultural Center Farmer’s Market at exit 14 off I-95 south in Lumberton from Sept. 22 through Nov. 4. |
