University Theatre has full scheduleBy Allyson BetotAround the Campus Editor January 26, 2012
The University Theatre spring productions hit the ground running this semester. "The Odd Couple"Neil Simon wrote two versions of "The Odd Couple." The male version is the better known version, having been turned into a popular film starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Mathau.Dr. Chet Jordan chose to direct the female version this semester. After successful auditions, the cast began rehearsals immediately. The cast includes some new faces and some old faces in the UNCP theater community. "The Odd Couple: Female Version" involves the intense relationships between females and the heavy dynamics of being roommates When two divorced women live together platonically, they begin to act like a married couple, fights and all. The show runs from Feb. 22-25 on the main stage in GPAC. "The Crucible"Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" is a staple in American theater, having won a Tony Award for "Best Play" in 1953.Holden Hansen will be directing "The Crucible" this semester and rehearsals will begin as soon as "The Odd Couple" finishes its run. Due to large large cast, auditions were held early in the semester so that costumes could start being made and planning the show could begin. "The Crucible" takes place in the Massachusetts area during the Salem Witch Trials. |
