Southern Christmas traditions illuminated at the library
By Pine Needle StaffEmyl Jenkins, an expert on Southern and American traditions as well as buying, selling, and appraising antiques, will recount Southern Christmas traditions on Nov. 28 at the Sampson-Livermore Library.
The Friends of the Library program, which is free and open to the public, will start at 7 p.m. in the main reading room. A reception and book signing will follow.
Jenkins' books include The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Buying and Selling Antiques; The Book of American Traditions: Stories, Customs, and Rites of Passage to Celebrate Our Cultural Heritage; and Emyl Jenkins’ Southern Hospitality.
"Her latest book, Stealing with Style, is a delightful work of fiction," said Dr. Anthony Curtis, president of the Friends of the Library and professor in the Mass Communications Department.
