Digital Academy’s podcasting training scores big with students

The Digital Academy of UNCP held a training session for podcasting on Feb. 2.            

Podcasting is the Web-based broadcast of music which works with software that automatically detects new files and is accessed by subscription. The podcasting studio in Locklear Hall was announced.

Representatives from Apple Inc. held the session in Locklear Hall. The first session was held for faculty and staff. The second one was held for students. The general public was allowed to attend either session.            
           
UNCP is joining a number of other universities, that are with ItunesU.  ItunesU is a program for higher education. It brings the famous iPod into the classroom. Teachers can post lectures on an iPod for the whole class to gain access to.

Professors can post information onto the Internet that students can gain easy access to. The information can range from music, books, videos, etc.            
           
The event was a chance for student and staff to learn how to podcast and to reveal the opening of the new digital podcasting studio.

The training was a opportunity to show students and staff how to communicate through the iPod.            
           
“Podcasting is a cool way to able to get what you didn’t catch in class. You can also get extra info on what’s going on in class.” said freshman Ashley Rogers.

UNCP will get a lot of attention and more students if the podcasting takes effect.
