Actor and comedian Mike Epps will be gracing the stage of the Givens Performing Arts Center on Feb. 3 at 9 p.m. as part of UNCP’s Homecoming celebration that runs from Jan. 29-Feb. 3.
Epps, from Gary, Ind., started his professional career as a comedian in 1995 when he first appeared on the Def Comedy Jam tour. This led to two appearances on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam broadcast.
Epps has since gone on to star in movies such as “Next Friday,” “All About the Benjamin’s,” “Friday After Next” and “Resident Evil: Apocalypse.”
In 2006 Mike Epps comedy special, “Inappropriate Behavior,” debuted on HBO and received rave reviews.
On Feb. 2 musicians Dan and Jim Seals will be performing in the GPAC at 8 p.m.
Jim Seals is best known as part of the duo “Seals and Croft” whose album “Summer Breeze” peeked at number seven on the Billboard Music Charts.
Jim’s brother Dan Seals is also no stranger to success in the music industry. Between 1985 and 1990 Dan scored 10 number one hits, seven of them consecutively.
In July 2002, the brothers performed together on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, which was the first time the pair had performed together since their childhood.
That performance has since spawned several joint shows as a duo called “Seals and Seals.”
