“Coop” Cooper focuses on helping students with activities By Whitney Dudley Robert "Coop" Cooper joined the UNCP staff as Associate Director of Student Affairs in May 2005. Coop said that his main focus is on the Campus Activities Board. He is in charge of clubs, Greek life and booking for different events. He says that students come up with concepts, and he helps them find a time and place. Coop said that the people in his department are more than workers. They make sure that students enjoy their experience. "I think everybody in student activities, we're here to serve the students," he said. Prior to Coop joining the UNCP family, he was on staff at various colleges in Kentucky and Virginia. At Union College in Kentucky he served as director of student affairs and also taught freshman seminar. While at Roanoke College in Virginia, Coop served as residence life director, assistant track coach, game room manager and assistant director of student affairs. "At a private school, Coop said, "you can wear more than one hat." He said you're not hired to do just one job. |
