Paparozzi named chair of sociology-criminal justice By Lauren Allen
Paparozzi, who graduated from Rutgers University with a Ph.D. in Sociology, has been a professor at UNCP for four years. He took over after Dr. Richard E. Kania left to become head of the Criminal Justice department, Jacksonville State University, Alabama. With this new position, Paparozzi is now responsible for overseeing the administration of his department as well as instructing and advising students. Paparozzi hopes to foster a sense of unity within the department and would like to establish a clear vision for the department that comports with the vision set forth by the university at large. "I would love to strike a better balance between teaching and scholarship among faculty and myself as well" Paparozzi said when asked what he hopes to achieve in his new position. With accepting this new position, Paparozzi will be overseeing 15 faculty members and will continue to teach two classes, one of which is a graduate class. "I am very excited about the opportunity to participate in and provide leadership for the construction of our future," said Paparozzi. |
