UNCP dresses to impress at semi-formal dance By Sha’lace Gregg This year's semiformal centered on the highly energized and colorful theme of Mardi-Gras. Doors opened Feb 4 at 9 p.m. in the University auxiliary gym to hundreds of students, faculty and guests. The huge crowd enjoyed great music and food during the four-hour event. The festive decorations adorned tables creating excellent areas for students to sit and mingle with each other. "I liked the Mardi-Gras theme but I wanted more people to wear masks to support the theme," Christia Ward said. This year's attire for the ladies ranged in everything from elegant formal gowns and cocktail dresses to classy pantsuits. "This year I wanted to go more for a nice sophisticated look so I chose this pantsuit," Leah Sisco said. The men of the formal found comfort in dress slacks and shirt and ties. "Since it was my first semi-formal, I went with a black and gold ensemble with matching black and gold Vertelli shoes, I just wanted keep it comfortable," said Adam Abdur-Rahman. During the night, the homecoming court was announced giving partygoers a chance to cheer on their favorite candidate. As the night came to a close, guests were given their glass memento to remember the special event. |
