GPAC laughs with Arnez J By Sha’lace Gregg Comedian Arnez J added the perfect finishing touches to this year's homecoming festivities, hitting center stage Feb. 4 to perform in UNCP homecoming comedy showcase. Arnez J came out and opened his show with music from Kirk Franklin. Known for his physical comedy, J's act was full of movement to express his points. Describing memories of his handicapped little brother and speech impaired mother were all part of his show. "I do truth comedy," Arnez said. Having an excellent knack for revealing the humor of everyday life, Arnez relates to his audience on a personal level. His show also addressed the differences between blacks, whites and J even decided to add the Indian culture due to being in Pembroke. By knowing and understanding the universal appeal of comedy among all races, Arnez J allowed the audience to focus on how everyone can come together as one and enjoy a truly talented comedian. Throughout his career, Arnez J has starred in numerous television appearances such as "Comedy Central," Russell Simmons "Def comedy Jam" and his very own half hour comedy special on BET. J's memorable saying "You don't want none!" will defiantly stay in the minds of this year's homecoming comedy show guests. After the show, J was able to meet and greet many of the audience members. DVDs, CDs and autographed tee shirts were all available for purchase after the show. |
