The University is ready to change, as the campus' Master Plan was presented during a pair of informative forums held on Feb. 20 in the UC Annex.
The forum was moderated by Steve Martin, associate vice chancellor for Facilities Management.
The presentation of the plan included respecting the campus' historic core, responding to the land issues, creating stronger landscape and pedestrian connections and improving campus life.
Martin pointed out that there is no timetable for the full completion of the plan, noting that the amount of available funding on a year to year basis will help shape what projects are done at what times.
Some of the biggest changes include the creation of a new Information Commons, a building that would include all library services, that would go where the parking lot between the UC and Wellons hall is now.
The plan also calls for the removal of Faculty Row as a vehicular road and transforming it into part of a walkway that would run through the entire campus from north to south.
The Master Plan and all of its additional documents, including photos, can be found by visiting http://www.uncp.edu/fm/masterplan/ or clicking on the 'Master Plan' link on the Facilities Management portion of the UNCP website.
