Season tickets sold out for second straight year Home football games sold out for second consecutive season By Latavia Riggins Director of Athletics Dan Kenney said that of the 3,000 permanent and rented seats available at Grace P. Johnson Stadium, 1,600 are reserved for recruiters, the visiting team and the marching band. The remaining 1,400 seats will be for UNCP students. “We’re really excited that for the second consecutive year, we’ve been able to sell out and I think it talks about the pride that our community and our student body have about UNCP,” Kenney said. For ticket sales this season, the marketing and promotions department for athletics at UNCP struck a deal with The Robesonian newspaper to advertise for each other, said Craig Shaffer, director of Marketing and Promotions. “We actually bought a whole month’s worth of advertisements in the newspaper,” Shaffer said. Although seats are sold out, university students will be allowed into the reserved section by showing their ID’s at the main entrance gate. The general public will be sold admission tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10 at the main entrance gate, Kenney said. The Black and Gold’s home opener will be played on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. against Davidson. The Braves will play a total of five home games this season, including three consecutive to end 2008. UNCP was 3-2 at home last season.
