Hann headlines UNCP safeties By J. Markus Franklin Richardson praised the progress of the talented sophomore, taking notice of his ability to get to the football. Hann, who started out the 2007 season as a transfer-quarterback on the UNCP roster, has made the transition from offense to defense without a hitch. During the April game, the junior electrified the home crowd by returning an interception 69 yards to the 1-yard line to set up a score for the offense. Hann had made quite an early impression on defensive coordinator Shane Richardson during that season’s Black and Gold spring game. Against Brevard, his second pick was returned 41 yards inside Brevard’s 5-yard line. The Black and Gold’s third touchdown of the game, thee plays later, gave the Braves a commanding lead. “I had a clear path to the endzone but wound up getting tackled near the goalline,” Hann said. “I juked two defenders down the sideline and got caught from behind by a lineman.” Hann should find himself with plenty of work against Davidson on Sept. 6. as the Wildcats look to pass often with quarterback Ryan Alexander. The 5-foot-10 safety will also have to keep a close eye on Ryan Hubbard, Davidson’s most lethal threat.
