Hotel coming in 2009

A 63-room Holiday Inn Express set to be completed by July 2009 will “provide a service that has been needed for a long time, for people who have already been coming to town,” said Town Manager McDuffie Cummings.
Conference center
The hotel, which will also bring a conference center, will be housed across from First Health on Highway 711.
Cummings also said that the hotel will bring an investment of $5 million to Pembroke, which should improve the town’s tax base.
“I think it will be a wonderful addition for the families who come to visit their sons and daughters,” said Chancellor Allen C. Meadors.
He added that a local place to stay might also bring in more people for campus events such as sporting events and the speaker series held at the Givens Performing Arts Center. “I think it will be positive in any way you can think of,” he said.

Some of the Holiday Inn Express’ standard features include:

• In-room data ports
• Smoking rooms
• Non-smoking rooms
•Free internet access
•Children 19 and under stay free in parents’ room
The hotel chain also has these features available in select locations:

• Swimming Pools

• Fax and photocopies
• Forget Something?® personal care amenities program
• Same-day laundry and dry-cleaning service on weekdays
It is not yet clear whether the Pembroke Holiday Inn Express will offer these features.
