The Department sponsors a student group, "Tomorrow's Religious Leaders," for those considering a vocation in ministry or religious education and for those expecting to play an active role in the lay leadership of a church, synagogue, mosque, or temple. Activities include monthly meetings (usually the third Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Sampson Building, Room 103), workshops on topics relating to religious service, visits to religious services to experience various styles of worship and preaching, and opportunities to "shadow" religious professionals. Due to conflicts, the monthly meetings for Fall Semester, 2009, are as follows: Sept. 23, Oct. 14, and Nov. 21. For more information contact Dr. David Nikkel.

The Department also sponsors the UNCP Chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa--National Religious Studies Honor Society for qualified students.
