Pembroke Magazine number 9 (1977) is a special three-part supplementary issue called The Distance: New & Selected Poems (1928-1977) by Macleod.  The first part, "The Ptarmigans (1928-1940)," concerns Macleod's roots in the Southwest as well as his sojourn in the Soviet Union and New York City.  The second, "The Dark Descent Within (1941-1952)," takes Macleod through Briarcliff Quarterly and his travels throughout the United States.  The last section, "Long Distance Messages (1953-1977)," brings Macleod through his editorship of Pembroke Magazine.
