Dear Student:

Congratulations on your acceptance to The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. We are pleased that you have chosen to continue your education with us and look forward to your arrival on campus.

UNCP is offering a New Student Orientation session on Saturday, January 5, 2008. This session is designed to acquaint you further with UNCP and the services that are available to you, as well as enable you to complete the necessary placement exams. You will also receive academic advising with regard to your spring courses and will be registered for classes at the end of the session. Students registering for classes on January 5, 2008 must pay all costs by 5:00 pm that day.

According to the Admissions Office, your transfer evaluation indicates that you need to take the placement exams. These placement tests will determine the English and/or Math courses in which you will enroll for the 2008 Spring Semester. The Math Placement Test allows for the use of any type of personal handheld calculator. The use of a calculator is recommended, though it is not essential to successful testing. The University will not provide these calculators; you must provide your own.

If you have completed additional course work since your acceptance to UNCP, it is imperative that you have your most recent transcript sent to the UNCP Office of Admissions. You may pick up an updated transcript evaluation from the Admissions Office on January 5th. It is necessary that you have this process completed before you arrive to ensure proper advising and registration. You must have your final transcript evaluation with you at the New Student Orientation. If you have questions regarding your transcript evaluation before Orientation, please contact the Office of Admissions at 910.521.6262. Students registering for ONLY on-line classes, will need to speak with Distance Education at 910. 521.6367.

If you are a student with a disability and are requesting accommodations for placement testing, please contact Disability Support Services (DSS) at 910.521.6695. Notification of required accommodation must be submitted two weeks prior to the test date. Failure to notify DSS in advance may result in accommodations for that day being denied and a reschedule of testing.

Please complete and return the enclosed reservation form with prepayment of the $35 (non-refundable) New Student Orientation fee (made payable to UNCP/Orientation) immediately.
