safe zone ![]()
Safe Zone at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke began in 2009, as a dialogue between Multicultural Affairs, Disability Support Services, Institutional Effectiveness, Student Life (now Student Involvement and Leadership) and Student Health Services to provide a better community to serve our diverse GLBT student population.
Since that dialogue, approximately 75 dedicated faculty, staff, students and alumni have been through UNCP's first Safe Zone Education. Our Safe Zone now consists of a voluntary network of faculty, staff and students who believe that every member of the university community should have an equal opportunity to grow and learn in a safe and open environment.
Safe Zone educates faculty, staff, and students about issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and questioning individuals (LGBTQ) and their loved ones.
Visit our Safe Zone Service site for additional resources and information.
