social justice symposium (free admission)

The Office of Multicultural and Minority Affairs and its' Social Justice Symposium Committee cordially invite you to UNC Pembroke's 5th Annual Social Justice Symposium titled,  "Hidden Histories Made Visible!".This  symposia will promote insight about the significance of the past and the present and create dialogue about the multifaceted lived experiences reflective of social injustice and resilience among differing cultures and communities.

This informative and thought-provoking symposium will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 6pm-8pm on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke's UC Annex Assembly Room.

On Tuesday, August 28th, Nash Arts Center and The Imperial Center Theatre in Rocky Mount will present a staged reading of Marilynn Barner Anselmi's play, You Wouldn't Expect.  This play depicts the harrowing experiences of four of the almost 8,000 individuals forcibly sterilized under the North Carolina Eugenics Program.  The play will be presented at UNCP's Moore Hall Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.
