The mission of the UNCP Department of Nursing program reflects the tripartite roles of teaching, research, and community service articulated in the mission of UNCP. Students are provided the opportunity to obtain a multicultural education that is grounded in the arts, sciences and humanities; congruent with standards for professional nursing practice; and that prepares them for lifelong learning, professional development, and service to others. The primary purposes of the Department of Nursing program are to:
1. Promote and advance the accessibility, availability, and quality of professional nursing education and practice for nurses of southeastern North Carolina.
2. Prepare graduates to provide quality professional nursing services,
across the life span, for individuals, families, groups, and communities.
